The 10th anniversary of the death of Ambassador Gibrill Santigie Moseray Fadika, popularly known as Super, was observed in Freetown over the weekend with prayers, charity and a community football match.
The two-day programme, organised by the Friends of Super, started on Friday, 7th August 2026, at the Madingo Central Mosque in Magazine Community.
After the Juma prayers on Friday, friends, colleagues, political associates and community members gathered at the mosque to remember the late Moseray Fadika and pray for his soul.
Among those who attended were Dr. Richard Conteh, Hon. Chernor Bah and Thomas Koroma, together with other friends and associates of the late Super.
The gathering was not only about prayers.
The Friends of Super also used the occasion to give back to the community.
More than 2,000 people received food packages around the Madingo Mosque and Magazine Community. Food packages were also distributed to more than 1,500 APC supporters at the APC Party Office.
The charity formed an important part of the anniversary because Super was widely remembered by those close to him for his generosity and willingness to help people.
The commemoration continued on Saturday, 8th August, with a football match at the Parade Field (COFA).
The match, played for the Moseray Fadika 10th Anniversary Trophy, brought Magazine Community FC and Fullah Town Community FC together.
Magazine Community FC won the match 2–1 but the occasion was bigger than the result. Residents, friends and supporters gathered to watch the game, meet old friends and remember Super in a relaxed community setting.
Several political and community personalities also attended the programme.
Among them were APC Chairman Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh and Kweku Lisk, Deputy Mayor of Freetown and Chairman/Godfather of the Friends of Super.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Yansaneh remembered Super as a brother and comrade, noting that his contribution and memory would continue to live on.
Kweku Lisk also spoke about the need to continue what Super started.
His message centred on the belief that “the Dream of Super Lives On”, particularly through the work of the Friends of Super and the support being given to communities.
Other personalities associated with the programme included Mohamed Pope Kamara, APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary; Madam Ballay Bangura, Organizing Secretary of the APC Women’s Congress; Chief Counselor Zainab Conteh of the Freetown City Council; and Ambassador Abdul Karim Mansaray.
Some senior colleagues who could not attend also sent messages of solidarity, including APC National Secretary General Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, Hon. BAI Mahmoud Bangura (BMB), Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (JFK) and Senior Comrade Thomas Koroma.
The Friends of Super team, led by National Coordinator Bilal Bah, with members at home and abroad including Deputy Chairman Agba Lamin Marenah, was also part of the organisation of the two-days program.
The two days offered different ways of remembering the late ambassador.
Friday was about prayer and helping people, while Saturday brought people together through football and community interaction.
For the organisers, the anniversary was therefore not just about marking ten years since Super’s death.
It was also about keeping alive some of the things people remember him for his relationships with people, his generosity and his connection with communities.
Ten years after his passing, his name continues to bring friends, comrades and communities together.
The weekend’s activities showed that while Super is no longer here, the people who knew him are still finding ways to remember him and keep his memory alive.
May the soul of Ambassador Gibrill Santigie Moseray Fadika “Super” continue to rest in peace.
