The Midnight Hour of Prayer group has extended love and compassion to orphanage homes by donating essential food items to support children and widows as part of activities marking its first anniversary.
Speaking during the donation, Pastor Alhassan Kabia, the host pastor of the group, said prayer should be accompanied by action and acts of kindness.
“We believe that prayer should be accompanied by action, and that every act of kindness can bring hope, joy, and encouragement,” Pastor Kabia said.
He added: “Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these precious children.”
The donation targeted the Help Life for Needy Charity Foundation in Waterloo and Mahanahim Orphanage in Grafton.
The gesture came at an important time for the beneficiaries, particularly the children and widows, and was made possible as the faith-based group celebrates its first anniversary.
The Help Life for Needy Charity Foundation provides shelter, education, healthcare and empowerment support to street children, orphans, less-privileged children, abandoned newborns, widows, single mothers and persons with disabilities across Sierra Leone.
Among its major projects are the construction of 25 classrooms, offices, toilets, water tanks, an orphanage home, conference hall, hospital and skills centres. The organisation also supports the construction and renovation of houses for widows, single mothers and persons with disabilities, as well as providing free microfinance services to vulnerable groups.
The foundation also undertakes community empowerment, education and agricultural support initiatives.
Meanwhile, Mahanahim Orphanage House of Prayer, “Powered by God,” was founded on June 6, 2000, by Madam Melrose Hawa Mboyawa. The facility was built and supervised by One Family People to care primarily for physically challenged children.
The donation brought smiles and renewed hope to the faces of the children as they received the food items.
Pastor Alhassan Kabia prayed for the beneficiaries and expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed in diverse ways towards making the anniversary celebration a success.
