Fairo Village in Sorogbeima Chiefdom, Pujehun District, came alive with colour, excitement, and unity as Dr. Ibrahim Bangura (DIB) and his entourage paid a significant visit to the community last Friday. The atmosphere was festive and animated, marked by traditional songs, dances, and a warm show of solidarity from residents who turned out in large numbers to welcome the visiting delegation.
In his address, Dr. Bangura expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and people of Fairo for the remarkable gesture, noting that his connection to the village is deeply personal. He emphasised that he was particularly pleased to be in Fairo because of the many admirable individuals with roots in the community, whom he described as “pillars of integrity and progress.”
DIB used the opportunity to commend a key figure of the district, Nassu Fofanah, for demonstrating exceptional leadership by mobilising the people of Fairo to take ownership of their development. He highlighted that such grassroots coordination is essential for sustainable progress, especially in rural communities.
In a strong show of support, Dr. Bangura pledged to work closely with Ms. Fofanah to empower the women of Fairo, recognising their central role in community advancement. He noted that women are critical drivers of economic and social transformation and must be supported through deliberate initiatives.
Dr. Bangura further expressed admiration for the community’s proactive spirit and readiness to organise for their collective welfare. He described Fairo as a model of self-driven development, where citizens are not waiting for change but actively shaping their own future.
A major highlight of the visit was the introduction of the Female Farmers Network of Fairo, an initiative designed to strengthen agricultural productivity and enhance food security within the chiefdom and across Pujehun District. Dr. Bangura praised the initiative as timely and strategic, noting that empowering female farmers is key to addressing food challenges and boosting local economies.
The visit concluded on a high note, reinforcing DIB’s commitment to community-centred development and leaving residents inspired and energised about the future of Fairo and Pujehun District as a whole.
